Book a kayak
Kayaking is a unique experience of paddling freedom and exploring nature, which is equally enjoyed by all generations of sea lovers.
On average, two people explore the island by kayak in 3 hours with several stops (breaks, diving, taking pictures)
It's good to know
With the kayak you get:
- Lifejacket for all persons
- Small dry bag (for personal items)
- Diving mask
- Kayaks are equipped with GPS
Before you start kayaking
- Before starting the adventure of rowing around the island, carefully assess your physical condition and the conditions at sea. Kayaking is prohibited in extremely strong gusts of wind and current, as well as in high waves.
- All persons must be of legal age or accompanied by an adult to use the kayak (in addition on double kayak, they can take a child on an additional seat, in which case they take full responsibility)
- When you arrive at the meeting place (in front of the TUI hotel, Donje Čelo), you will go through a short briefing with us on weather conditions and behavior at sea with a kayak.
How much time do I need
Statistically speaking:
- 1 hour of kayaking is enough to visit three green caves (30 minutes in one direction) or to visit another village on the island (Gornje Čelo) opposite the caves
- 2 hours of kayaking is enough to visit the popular Blue Cave (and moving towards the Blue Cave you will pass by the green caves and the equally beautiful cliffs of Placet.
- 3 hours of kayaking is enough to go around the entire island with several stops for swimming and diving in caves such as the Blue Cave, as well as refreshing yourself in the sea under the lighthouse at the end of the island, and returning to the other side to visit another village on the island of Gornje Čelo ( where you can rest on the sandy beaches, view the turquoise-blue bay of Don Gjiva, or refresh yourself in the local bars and continue the ride to the starting point, which completes the entire circuit by kayaking around the island)
- 4+ hours of kayaking is for true connoisseurs of enjoyment, because they include another popular stop in another village of Gornje Čelo in a local family restaurant and taste seafood delicacies in their half of visiting the caves and exploring the island. Konoba Škerac has been a well-known stop for kayakers for a long time
What is the best to visit
- THREE GREEN CAVES – They are located 30 minutes by kayak from Donje Čelo bay (from where you start in front of the TUI hotel)
- PLACET – a beautiful cliff with stone steps from the top to the bottom. It is located in Gornje Čelo and are the favorite steps of the locals for swimming and watching the sunset.
- BLUE CAVE – a unique cave with a turquoise blue reflection of the sea hidden under a cliff where you have to swim in to experience the magic of the blue sea and the union with the rocks.
- LIGHTHOUSE – at the end of the island stands out a lighthouse, which is reached by very long stone steps from the top of the cliff, and which, if you dive, hides a lively group of sea fish and even starfish below you. and of course from the lighthouse you can see almost the entire city of Dubrovnik in front of you.
- JEKAVAC BAY – a small hidden bay with one secluded house and a small beach hidden on the way to the second village of Gornje Čelo
- GORNJE ČELO – a small place full of its beauty and charm, the nature of the village will delight you and also a modest place that is not overcrowded with tourists. The place can modestly offer one family restaurant called Škerac on the beach, as well as one cafe on the pier, and a small hotel with a terrace.
- DON GJIVAN – a turquoise blue bay with clear sea and a combination of sand and small stones, which is connected by a small path to the village of Gornje Čelo. A favorite bay of the locals of this place because of the extremely quiet place and the shade of the pine trees on hot days.
